Police: Man shoots naked St. Louis apartment intruder in self-defense

ST. LOUIS – A man allegedly shot a naked intruder who broke into his south St. Louis apartment and threatened to kill his family. Police claim the shooting happened in self-defense.

The situation unfolded around 2 p.m. Friday in the 900 block of Park Avenue in St. Louis’ LaSalle Park neighborhood.

Investigators say the suspect broke through the wall of the victim’s apartment while naked. As the suspect entered the home, he reportedly made remarks in which he threatened to kill the victim and his family.

A short time later, the victim pulled out a weapon and shot the suspect’s left hand.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department reports that the suspect was sent to a hospital for treatment, while the victim’s weapon was seized as evidence.

SLMPD is handling the investigation. Police say the suspect was a 32-year-old man and the victim was a 36-year-old man. It’s unclear if charges have been or will be filed in this case.
