ST. LOUIS — During National Police Week, law enforcement officials in our area say their strategy for improving safety is to build bonds right in the neighborhood.

Major Ron Martin is with the North County Cooperative. Since it was started in 2015, they’ve been able to decrease crime by 77 percent, while patrolling eight different regions in the last three years. There have been a total of 25 homicides in the area, but the cooperative has solved 24 of them.
