ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Plans to build a shelter for unhoused pregnant women in west county will move forward.

‘Our Lady’s Inn,’ a Catholic charity, wants to build a shelter that will house up to 14 women, who could stay as long as a year. It would also provide medical care, casework, and counseling. However, nearby homeowners objected, saying it could bring crime and traffic.

Fatal Ferguson house fire ruled a murder-suicide

In 2022, the St. . Louis County Council rejected the charity’s plan. Our Lady’s Inn sued the county a month later. After more than a year of hearings, both sides agreed to dismiss the lawsuit in exchange for adding restrictions on the project, such as lighting and fencing.
