Paper company closes St. Louis facility; lays off over 70 employees

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A Tennessee-based paper company with facilities across the country has announced it will be closing its St. Louis facility and laying off over 70 employees.

According to a press release, International Paper will close its St. Louis County facility located off Bircher Boulevard effective Apr. 14.

The St. Louis County sheet feeder facility will lay off a total of 72 employees due to the closure. The paper company is additionally closing three additional facilities located in Arizona, Louisiana, and Pennsylvania, resulting in a total of 674 layoffs.

More than 65,000 people are employed by International Paper in over 30 countries, according to the news release.
