ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Brentwood man and a Bellefontaine Neighbors man have been charged in connection with a fatal shooting in University City over the weekend.

According to the University City Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened in the 6400 block of North Drive.

Police said Terrell A. McCann Jr., 22, and Carlione Boyd, 20, attempted to rob three people—two women and a man—standing outside in a parking lot and working on a car. Boyd allegedly pointed a gun at a woman’s head.

The woman being held at gunpoint was able to snatch the firearm from Boyd’s grasp and open fire on both Boyd and McCann, according to police. Boyd and McCann made an attempt to flee, but a bullet paralyzed McCann.

However, police said McCann somehow continued shooting at the victims, who were also fleeing. One of McCann’s bullets went through an apartment door and struck a fourth person, who was later identified as the mother of one of the initial victims.

Police said the incident was captured on surveillance video.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged both McCann and Boyd with second-degree murder and attempted first-degree robbery.
