ILLINOIS – The National Weather Service has confirmed at least four tornadoes from Thursday’s St. Louis-area storms.
More tornado designations are possible after Thursday’s round of tornado-warned storms. NWS crews are expected to survey several areas in Missouri and Illinois for damage on Friday.
According to FOX 2 Extreme Weather Specialist Chris Higgins, the NWS has confirmed tornadoes from the following general locations:
Brookdale Farms (Eureka, Missouri) – EF1
Near Horshoe Lake (Madison County, Illinois) – EF0
Near Lower Marine Road (Madison County, Illinois) – EF0
High Ridge (Jefferson County, Missouri) – EF0
All confirmed tornadoes to this point are considered to be weak and relatively isolated in nature, though there were scattered damages to homes, properties and trees.

Near Horseshoe Lake
A twister formed around 5:52 p.m. just east of Horseshoe Lake. It lasted roughly one minute. NWS reports that the tornado delivered gusts up to 80 miles per hour with the length of roughly one mile and a width around 100 yards. No injuries were reported, but some tree damage along Arlington Road.
Near Lower Marine Road
A twister formed around 6:09 p.m. just north of Troy, Illinois. It lasted about roughly seven minutes. NWS reports that the tornado delivered gusts up to 80 miles per hour with the length of roughly seven miles and a width around 125 yards. No injuries were reported, but some tree and roof damages in the town of Marine.
Storms were tornado-warned for much of the St. Louis metro between the 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. hours Thursday, also bringing threats of high winds, hail and lightning.
