ST. LOUIS – A nightclub host was shot and killed overnight Friday.

Police responded to the 9700 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Drive and found the victim outside a nightclub with multiple gunshot wounds.

In surveillance video captured from a nearby church, the victim can be seen having a conversation outside with another individual, going inside, then stepping back outside when shots were fired.

The camera was unable to capture video of the shooter or where the shots came from.

“I pray for the family. Instead of getting weaker and weaker, going out to look for revenge, let’s hope it makes the family stronger like a chain,” Bishop Floyd Williams, pastor of the church, said. “Hope we can learn from this and not create any more violence.”

Williams said he has seen a lot of violence on the block, resulting in several people losing their lives.

The victim died at the hospital, according to police. No information has been released regarding the name of a suspect or a motive.

“I was raised here in St. Louis, I have seen the area get worse and worse and not better and better,” Williams said. “It’s an ongoing struggle.” Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at (314) 725-8477.
