CLAYTON, Mo. – A North Carolina man is accused of flying from his home state to St. Louis, renting a vehicle at the airport, and then stealing mail from blue collection boxes in Sunset Hills.
According to the Sunset Hills Police Department’s probable cause statement, the thefts happened on June 6 and July 1.
Investigators learned that a Chrysler, which had been rented from St. Louis Airport, was used in the June 6 theft. A Toyota Camry, also rented from the airport, was used in the second theft.
Police said various pieces of mail, including checks, were stolen.
Zymonte J. Gaynor, 27, rented both vehicles at the airport, police said. Flight records show Gaynor had arrived at the airport shortly before each rental and rented each vehicle before the thefts.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Gaynor with two counts of stealing – postal or delivery item. Online Missouri court records do not show when Gaynor will appear before a local judge.
At present, Gaynor is in custody in North Carolina for 75 counts of felony financial fraud.
