FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. – A police chief in Franklin County has found a fun way to build rapport with his community with an amusing Valentine’s Day message.

Christopher Neace, the Chief of Police in New Haven, closely monitors the community he serves. He’s also keeping some in stitches with his tongue-in-cheek posts from the police department.

Since starting the job in January, Neace made a humorous “Star Wars”-related post when snow and ice hit New Haven. But his Valentine’s post encouraging those with exes who might have outstanding warrants for some criminal activity, the New Haven Police Department has their bracelets waiting.

His post is asking about ex-Valentines with outstanding warrants and “crimey activity.” The sheriff is even offering a free ride through the scenic backcountry of Franklin County.

Neace says he’ll continue to engage this Franklin County community in creative ways.

“People have told me maybe they don’t like law enforcement or don’t like talking to law enforcement. But they have come up to me, ‘With your posts, you seem so much more approachable.’ And that is our goal in law enforcement,” he said.
