MEHLVILLE, Mo. – Remember the story from last month about a newborn baby being dropped off in a ‘Safe Haven Baby Box’ at the Mehlville fire station?

It was the first use in Missouri of those boxes, which offer a safe and legal alternative for at-risk mothers facing difficult decisions. A new bill introduced Friday would add St. Louis City’s Engine House 17 to the Safe Haven Program.

Janae Edmondson testifies: ‘I was screaming because I couldn’t feel my body’

The fire department, police department, and health department could add other locations as well.
