FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. – A man faces felony charges in Franklin County after he allegedly chased a woman’s vehicle and crashed into her over the weekend, resulting in her death.

The Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Donald Pierce Jr., 45, with second-degree murder and armed criminal action amid the investigation.

According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the crash happened around 4:30 p.m. Saturday near the 5500 block of Oak Grove Church Road.

When the Highway Patrol arrived to the scene, the victim’s vehicle was found overturned and submerged in a creek. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

One witness told authorities that the victim dropped her off at the witness’s home when Pierce approached her vehicle, jumped into it through the passenger window and tried to stop the victim from leaving. The victim was able to leave the house, but Pierce pursued her in his car.

A second witness, who was on the phone with the victim during the chase, told police the victim said Pierce was following her.

Investigators with the Missouri State Highway Patrol say that Pierce was driving in a “reckless manner,” cut directly in front of the victim, and “intentionally used” his vehicle to strike the victim’s vehicle, according to court documents. The victim’s vehicle then struck a tree, overturned, and submerged in a creek, investigators say.

Court documents state that Pierce admitted to “actively chasing” the victim but denied striking her vehicle in the crash.

Missouri court records indicate that Pierce has an outstanding warrant for failure to appear over a separate case.

Court documents did not expressly identify the victim. FOX 2 has reached out to the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for information on any ties between the victim and suspect. Requests for comment and clarification have gone unanswered.
