Morgan Freeman narrates show on an Alton prison escape

ALTON, Ill. – A Morgan Freeman-narrated History Channel show goes in depth on how a prisoner successfully escaped from a prison in Alton.

In a Sep. 2 aired episode of “History’s Greatest Escapes with Morgan Freeman,” titled “Alton City Escape,” the episode looks into how an inmate successfully escaped from a maximum security prison that holds both federal and state prisoners.

A synopsis of the episode highlights how Los Angeles native inmate Quawntay Adams successfully broke out of an Alton maximum-security cell back in 2006 after being sentenced to a long prison sentence following a large-scale marijuana bust.

After finding out he would soon be a father, Adams set it upon himself to break out of the maximum security cell, which he successfully does.

The 43-minute episode includes narration from Freeman along with details from former Alton Police Chief Chris Sullivan on the functionality of the prison and what happened when Adams escaped.
