ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Department of Transportation is holding the second of two public meetings Thursday afternoon regarding maintenance on more than two dozen bridges along Interstate 44.

MoDOT engineers are expected to share information on the bridges and will address concerns from residents. The meeting will be conducted in an open-house format, meaning there will be no formal presentation.

The meeting will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Missouri Foundation for Health, at 4254 Vista Avenue.

According to MoDOT, 18 of the bridges are over I-44, 12 carry I-44 over another roadway, and two are ramp bridges. The identified bridges are located between Nebraska Avenue in St. Louis City and Fox Creek, just west of Six Flags, in St. Louis County.

Nine of the bridges have reached the end of their useful lives; three require preventative maintenance; and 17 need some rehabilitation work. MoDOT said it may be more cost-effective to replace the remaining two bridges rather than rehab them.

The bridge work is expected to begin in 2026.
