O’FALLON, Mo. — A Missouri Lottery player won the jackpot prize of $89,000 by playing the  Show Me Cash. His ticket matched all five numbers drawn in the Feb. 4.

The ticket was purchased at FastLane, located at 1322 N. Main St. in O’Fallon. The prize was claimed at the Missouri Lottery’s St. Louis regional office on Feb. 5.

The winning numbers for the Feb. 4 drawing were 1, 2, 9, 27, and 39. Show Me Cash drawings happen daily at 8:59 p.m. The jackpot for the Feb. 23 drawing is estimated at $61,000.

While the chances of winning any prize in the Show Me Cash game are 1 in 8.77, the odds of hitting the jackpot are much slimmer at 0.017%. This means that the Missouri Lottery player who won the jackpot was indeed really lucky.

Most of the time, the state sets up games so that it has the best chance of winning; otherwise, it wouldn’t be a game. There are a lot of different lottery games, and the odds of winning depend on which game you buy. There are different rules, odds, and prize systems for each lottery game.

Most of the time, the chances of getting a prize, even a small one, are better than the odds of hitting the jackpot.
