AFFTON, Mo. – Wednesday has brought some sightings of bears for Affton residents, according to the Missouri Department of Conservation.
Dan Zarlenga, media specialist for MDC in the St. Louis region, stated that the agency has received a few reports of a black bear and three cubs roaming the area.
A post was made in an Affton Facebook group a little after noon, and two additional sightings in the same area were reported to MDC’s bear biologist. Zarlenga said that they have not received or seen any photos as of Wednesday afternoon.
If residents see bears nearby, they are urged not to feed, approach, or threaten them. All potential food sources should be secured, including trash cans, bird feeders, pet food, grills, and more.
