Mayor Jones to represent St. Louis at conferences in Texas

ST. LOUIS—Starting today, March 9, and continuing through Monday, March 11, Mayor Tishaura O. Jones will be traveling to Austin, TX, to attend the South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival and the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) convening.

During her time at these events, Mayor Jones will participate in panels and engage with fellow mayors from across the country. She will speak on a panel addressing how cities navigate state preemption on critical issues.

These discussions will include her efforts to combat state intervention in the management of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and advocate for common-sense gun laws.

St. Louis will have representation on two panels at SXSW:

Saturday, March 9:

Panel: “Startup Hacks: Unleashing Innovation on a Shoestring Budget”
St. Louis panelists include: Emily Lohse-Busch (39 North), Keisha Mabry Haymore (HeyDays), Akeem Shannon (FlipStick), and Mary Fernandes (Solis AgroSciences).

Monday, March 11:

Panel: “Organoleptic Retailing: Using the Senses to Engage Customers”
St. Louis panelists include: Tamara Keefe and Frank Uible (Clementine’s Naughty & Nice Creamery).

No taxpayer dollars were utilized for the mayor’s travel or accommodations.
