Man wins $1M from Missouri Lottery scratcher after work call

ST. LOUIS – A Missouri Lottery player wins $1 million from a scratcher after unexpectedly getting called into work for extra help.

On his way to work, the man decided to stop at a Perryville Casey’s, located at 621 N. King’s Highway, to get gas in his vehicle. While at the gas station, the man decided to buy the $50 “500X” scratcher ticket.

“They called me in because they needed some help,” he explained. “And I had to stop to put gas in the car. so I picked up one of those tickets.”

Once he arrived at his job, the man went to work and decided to set the “500X” scratchers ticket to the side to scratch it later. After scratching the ticket, the man said he called his wife and had her verify to make sure he was looking at the $1 million prize correctly.

“Once I saw it, I was just like, ‘Wait a minute!” his wife said.

“I couldn’t believe it,” he added. “Until I got to the (Lottery) office, I wasn’t even sure if it was real!”

“500X” is a $50 scratchers game that offers more than $240 million in prizes, with a top prize of $5 million. There is a 1 in 2.93 chance of winning a prize when playing the “500X” scratchers ticket.

“500X” players have won more than $147.7 million in prizes since the game was released. There is over $109.8 million remaining in unclaimed prizes, including 21 prizes of $500,000, a second $1 million prize, and one top prize of $5 million.
