ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office handed down a nine-count indictment against a 21-year-old man who allegedly wielded a machete during a domestic assault and threatened to kill his girlfriend and others.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department filed a probable cause statement on the incident, which FOX 2 obtained. According to that report, the assault happened on January 18 at an apartment in the 4000 block of Shreve Avenue in the Penrose neighborhood.

Police claim Thomas Quaye’s girlfriend said she woke up late for work because he had her phone. Quaye became agitated, cussed at her, and then threatened to kill her.

The girlfriend left to get in a ride-booking vehicle, at which point Quaye yelled out the window and again threatened to kill her. As a result, the ride-book driver canceled the fare and left the area.

The girlfriend went back to the home and Quaye followed her to the living room. Quaye is accused of choking her and threatening to kill her. Quaye grabbed a machete hidden beneath the couch cushions and struck her repeatedly with the sheathed weapon.

Eventually, the girlfriend fled to a bedroom and shut the door behind her. Quaye went back to the living room and began destroying his girlfriend’s property. The girlfriend’s mother, who was at the apartment, came into the living room and attempted to take the machete away from Quaye. Police claim Quaye swung the machete at his girlfriend’s mother.

Meanwhile, a 2-year-old child, whom Quaye and his girlfriend share, ran into the bedroom to be with their mother. Quaye went swinging the machete at his girlfriend while she held their child.

Police claim Quaye yelled, “I’m killing everyone in this house,” and then punched his girlfriend’s mother in the back of her head. He refused to leave the house and he punched and strangled his girlfriend again.

Quaye was charged with three counts of second-degree domestic assault and single counts of armed criminal action, first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, third-degree domestic assault, third-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and first-degree property damage. Quaye remains jailed without bond.
