O’FALLON, Ill. – A 20-year-old has been charged with attempting to murder his girlfriend after stabbing her in the neck.

The St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Havion A. Treadwell with attempted first-degree murder and one count of aggravated domestic battery.

According to an O’Fallon Police Department spokesperson, the stabbing took place around 6:30 a.m. Monday at an apartment in the 600 block of White Oak Drive.

When they arrived at the scene, police say the victim suffered a single stab wound to her neck area and was losing a lot of blood. She was rushed to a local hospital and is recovering from her injury.

Investigators determined the victim had gotten into an argument with her boyfriend, Treadwell, when he stabbed her.

Police said Treadwell ran away but was later found walking along Highway 50, going west near Interstate 64. Officers took Treadwell into custody following brief foot chase.

Treadwell remains in custody at the St. Clair County Jail awaiting further court proceedings.
