VIRDEN, Ill. – The Macoupin County Coroner’s office reports a fatal fire that happened on Saturday morning.
They say their office was called to the 200 block of West Dean Street in Virden for a residential structure fire.
A man was pronounced dead at the scene around 10 a.m. and the cause of death is pending an autopsy.
The investigation is being handled by the Macoupin County Coroner’s Office, the Virden Police Department, Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department and the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
