Man linked to South County Mall thefts arrested, caught with gun and crack

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Authorities arrested a man linked to multiple thefts at South County Mall on Wednesday. He was found in possession of a gun and crack shortly after his arrest.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged Herman Williams, 21, with unlawful possession of an illegal weapon, resisting arrest and stealing amid the investigation.


New charges in St. Francois County for mother accused in children’s deaths

Police responded to several reports of thefts at South County Mall around 6 p.m. Wednesday leading up to Williams’ arrest.

According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, officers spotted Williams, who matched the description of the theft suspect, and gave him commands to stop. Williams ran away and led officers on a brief foot chase.

After his arrest, officer found Williams in possession of a gun with an illegal fully-automatic switch and a plastic bag with a white powder substance.

Williams told authorities that the bag contained crack that he mixed with another person’s prescription medication and admitted to exchanging some of that mixture for the gun, according to court documents.

Williams is jailed in St. Louis County on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
