ST. LOUIS – A 56-year-old man was arrested last month after escaping a halfway house in 2018, according to a news release.

Bradford Craig Dean was sentenced to 15 years in prison in 2006 after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm as a felon. Dean was sent to be confined to the Dismas House of St. Louis upon his release.

In October of 2018, police stopped Dean for speeding in Normandy. During the traffic stop, officers noticed a handgun sitting in the cupholder, which was loaded and had been stolen 10 days prior.

Police also found $1,650 in cash, two firearm magazines, two digital scales and 16 bags of marijuana, which were indicative of marijuana sales.

Dean left the Dismas House without permission two days after the traffic stop and didn’t return.

He remained an escapee until he was located and arrested on Jan. 9 of this year.

He faces potential fines of up to $250,000. An escape charge is punishable by up to five years in prison, and a felon in possession charge is punishable by up to 10 years.

Dean’s sentencing is scheduled for May 7.
