A MSHP crash report states that McClung was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes. Investigators say one driver in that same lane attempted to move to another lane after he noticed the wrong-way vehicle.

A short time later, McClung’s vehicle struck one car. It led to the struck vehicle colliding with a different car, and an unrelated car being struck by debris. MSHP says four vehicles were involved in the collision.

McClung was rushed to a hospital after the crash, but he later died from his injuries. A 27-year-old man was also treated for minor injuries at a hospital.

MoDOT reports the crash led to traffic backups through the early afternoon Thursday.
