ST. LOUIS – One man is in custody following an overnight shooting in south St. Louis.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened just before 3 a.m. in the 2800 block of Ohio Avenue in the city’s Benton Park West neighborhood.

Officers arrived to find a male victim who’d been shot multiple times. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said investigators reviewed surveillance footage of the shooting. The video shows the victim hunched over in pain, holding his arm. After approximately 15 seconds, the victim is then shot in the head.

Police said Roger D. Huddleston, 69, can be seen walking over to the victim and kicking their body.

Huddleston allegedly admitted to the shooting and said the victim had no longer posed a threat to him prior to the fatal shot. Police have not yet provided additional information about what led up to the shooting.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Huddleston with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Huddleston was jailed without bond until he’s arraigned in court.
