Man charged in Near North Riverfront shooting

ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis man is in custody for a shooting that happened last Friday in the city’s Near North Riverfront neighborhood.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting took place in the 1800 block of North 9th Street.

Polie claim the victim and a large group of individuals had gathered along the street. At one point, four men wearing masks and carrying firearms arrived in the area. Everyone in the group dispersed.

At least one of the masked men began shooting. The victim was shot in the leg while fleeing.

Witnesses identified the shooter by his clothing. Police detained a man at the scene wearing the attire described.

Police claim that man, identified as Dai’Vion Daniels, 20, admitted firing a gun. Police found a 10mm Glock in his possession.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Daniels with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Daniels remains jailed without bond. He is due back in court on May 28 for a detention hearing.
