ST. LOUIS – A man faces felony charges more than half a year after a deadly shootout at a north St. Louis gas station involving several people.
Prosecutors charged Darnell Rhodes, 20, with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and first-degree assault in the investigation. Charges were formally filed on Thursday.
Rhodes is accused in a shootout that left one person dead and two others hurt on June 15, 2023 in St. Louis’ Hamilton Heights neighborhood. It happened at the Mobil Crown Mart gas station on Dr. Martin Luther King Drive near Clara Avenue.
According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, police responded to the gas station after learning that two groups of people had started shooting at each other. When officers arrived, they found a 17-year-old lying on the ground with gunshot wounds.
The teen, later identified as Keyon Taylor, was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A 36-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to his shoulder, legs and back, while a 30-year-old man was shot in the leg. Both survived their injuries. Shortly after the shooting, police arrested two people and seized an undisclosed number of guns.
Rhodes is jailed at the St. Louis Justice Center without bond, according to Missouri court records.
