Man charged after child allegedly overdosed on fentanyl: Police

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. – The Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged one individual after a child was believed to have been exposed to fentanyl Friday.

Authorities had received a call for an unconscious child who was not breathing in the 100 block of Hickory St. in New Haven. Upon arrival, EMS administered Narcan to the child, who revived and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The incident led to an investigation, where officials discovered the kid may have been exposed to fentanyl. It was learned the pills likely belonged to the child’s father.

28-year-old Dean Lockhart was charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child. According to a release, he has no bond.

Further details on the incident have been limited. Franklin County Sheriff Steve Pelton stated that the investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it is available.
