ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis Circuit Court judge signed an arrest warrant on Thursday for a man accused of torching a relative’s back patio deck and firing shots at their truck.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the incident occurred on July 24 in the 8200 block of Church Road, located in the Baden neighborhood.

Police said Tommy E. Kilbert was at the relative’s home and drinking. Kilbert got into a fight with the relative, who subdued Kilbert by placing him in a chokehold.

Kilbert left but returned a short time later, police said, and shot up his relative’s F-150 truck parked outside. The victim’s son was outside on the porch at the time of the shooting.

Kilbert shouted out that he would burn the relative’s home down and left again.

Police said a fire was set on the rear deck of the home, which caused significant damage to the residence.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Kilbert with second-degree arson.

Kilbert already has a pending case in St. Louis Circuit Court for unlawful possession of a firearm and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon. He was allowed to be released on his own recognizance last week.
