Major Case Squad makes arrest in Cahokia Heights fatal shooting; charges filed

CAHOKIA HEIGHTS, Ill. – Charges have been filed in last week’s fatal shooting in Cahokia Heights.

According to the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis, the shooting happened on September 9 in the 2400 block of Renois Lane. Deputies with the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the area just before 7:20 p.m.

Upon arrival, deputies found the victim, Damonta T. Mosley, suffering from at least one gunshot wound in a car. Mosley was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died. He was 18.

The sheriff’s department requested the Major Case Squad handle the investigation.

Detectives arrested David F. Hodges, 19, and filed their case with county prosecutors on September 14.

On Sunday, the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Hodges with first-degree murder. Hodges remains jailed without bond.
