Local UAW, Lear reach tentative deal ending Wentzville strike

WENTZVILLE, Mo. – The UAW strike at Lear Corporation in Wentzville could end soon.

The United Autoworkers Union is reporting that local 282 has reached a tentative agreement with Lear. The company makes seats for GM vehicles.

When employees went on strike, the GM plant in Wentzville also stopped production.

The details of the new contract have not been released.

UAW members said at the picket on Tuesday that they wanted higher pay and safer conditions.

Lear released a statement saying the corporation stands firm in supporting its employees and is committed to reaching an agreement that benefits all parties.
