ST. LOUIS – Juror formally acquitted a man from Maryland Heights of homicide in an October 2021 shooting.
According to the 22nd Judicial Circuit Court of Missouri, jurors found Dylan G. Anthony, 22, not guilty on Tuesday of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the fatal shooting of Devan Greer, 32.
On Oct. 17, 2021, Anthony was visiting his girlfriend at work in Walgreens at South Grand Boulevard and Bates Street in the city’s Carondelet neighborhood.
Prosecutors said past charges against Greer considered him a “nuisance” to that Walgreens location, and when Greer showed up, Anthony told him to leave.
Greer left and walked from the store to a bus stop on the corner. Prosecutors said Anthony walked out to the bus stop and the two began to argue. The dispute then turned physical and prosecutors said Anthony shot Greer twice with a pistol.
Anthony fled after the shooting but later surrendered to police the following day and turned in his pistol. Anthony testified in court that he fatally shot Greer in self-defense.
