Josh Gibson becomes major record holder after MLB incorporates Negro Leagues’ statistics

In a move that seeks to help correct a massive oversight in the history of its sport, Major League Baseball announced Tuesday that it will finally incorporate the statistics of the Negro Leagues into its own record books. As a result, MLB now has a new leader in career batting average and slugging percentage, legendary catcher Josh Gibson, who spent his entire 14-year career playing in the Negro Leagues.
