JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is hopeful new DNA technology will help authorities identify the remains of a man who died 30 years ago.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch initially reported of the efforts on Tuesday to identify a man who was buried decades ago, but never identified upon burial. The sheriff’s office also notified the public of the efforts Tuesday via Facebook.

According to the Post-Dispatch, fishermen pulled the body of a nude man out of the Mississippi River near Rush Island. The victim was found deceased with no tattoos or other identifying marks, and no family members came forward to identify the victim.
