JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. – A Jefferson County deputy was injured after confronting a suspect over a stolen vehicle on Tuesday night.
The deputy, who has not been identified, was called to Harness Road near Festus to check out a possible stolen vehicle. That’s when the officer confronted a suspect outside of his home.
Investigators said that the two struggled over the deputy’s weapon. At least one shot was fired, but no one was hit.
Both the suspect and the officer are being treated for minor injuries from the fight. The vehicle at the home was later confirmed stolen.
