Involuntary manslaughter charge for man accused of killing cousin

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Normandy, Missouri, man is accused of fatally shooting his cousin earlier this month at a home in Jennings.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened around 3:20 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1 in the 9400 block of Auburn Drive.

Officers found the victim, Martinez Ursery Jr., 18, had suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound to his head. Ursery was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Ursery was with his cousin, Christopher Webb, at the time of the shooting. Webb had picked up a rifle and Ursery had told him the rifle was loaded with a round in the chamber.

Webb was arrested on Sept. 30 and is in custody at St. Louis County Jail on a $225,000 cash-only bond.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Webb with first-degree involuntary manslaughter and failure to report a shooting.
