According to a probable cause statement, police learned of the overdose around 8 p.m. Wednesday, responding to a home in the 2300 block of Battlefield Drive to offer aid to the child.

Investigators say the child showed signs of an overdose upon police arrival and later tested positive for methamphetamine. Police administered two doses of NARCAN on the child, who is seeking treatment at a pediatric intensive care unit as of Thursday.

While speaking with authorities, Woodward admitted to using meth with his wife in their bedroom before placing a 1-year-old child in the bed, per the probable cause statement. Authorities later discovered a jar of a crystal-like substance in the bedroom, later identified as meth.

Investigators also found a handgun laying on the bed.

Along with his charges, Woodward was booked into jail in St. Louis County on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
