ST. LOUIS – The Humane Society of Missouri (HSMO) has received 62 dogs from the National Mill Dog Rescue. These dogs encompass a variety of breeds including Pugs, Standard Poodles, Miniature Poodles, Great Danes, Border Collies, Shih Tzus, and Chihuahuas.

The dogs will undergo rehabilitation at HSMO’s location in St. Louis, where they will receive health evaluations and emergency veterinary treatment. They were rescued from breeding facilities throughout the Midwest.

HSMO is seeking donations to assist in caring for these animals. Those interested in donating can visit hsmo.org. Additionally, HSMO is requesting material donations such as blankets, newspapers, dog toys, and dog beds to help make the animals’ recovery more comfortable.

Although these dogs are not yet available for adoption, HSMO will make them available once they receive a clean bill of health. As the animals recover both medically and behaviorally, they will be placed for adoption on a case-by-case basis. There is currently no timeline for when these dogs will be ready for their forever homes, but prospective adopters can monitor the HSMO website at hsmo.org/adopt for updates.

To report an animal that may be in danger or suffering from neglect or abuse, please contact the local police and the Humane Society of Missouri’s Animal Cruelty Hotline at 314-647-4400.
