ST. LOUIS – Deep winter cold will continue through Sunday, but temperatures will warm up a little bit. High temps should be near 30 degrees by the middle of the afternoon.

That said, a developing storm is coming into view, and it has more winter potential. As cold air starts to retreat, the western storm will throw a lot of precipitation our way.

The initial stage of this system could lead to several hours of freezing Monday from the early-morning hours through the afternoon. While it doesn’t look like we’ll have significant ice accumulations, it will impact travel, both near and far.

Current models project around a tenth of an inch of ice accumulation in St. Louis on Monday.

Icy roads, sidewalks, bridges, and runways could bring significant delays to the region. If you plan to drive Monday, make sure not to rush your commute and give yourself spare time for your travels.
