Homeless man killed by Amtrak train in East Alton

EAST ALTON, Ill. — Early on Wednesday morning, an Amtrak train struck and killed a man who was homeless. The fatal collision happened just after midnight Wednesday on the Union Pacific Railroad tracks near the 100 block of Goulding.

East Alton Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene, where they found the deceased pedestrian. The victim has been identified as Ronrecco V. Taylor, a 29-year-old man from East Alton.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the death, which appears to be accidental. The East Alton Police Department is leading the investigatiob, assisted by the Madison County Coroner’s Office, Amtrak, and Union Pacific Railroad.
