JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. – MoDOT breaks ground Friday on a long-awaited project to improve Interstate 55 in Jefferson County.

The $246 million plan will add a third lane on I-55 from Route Z to U.S. Highway 67. About 70,000 drivers use that 12-mile stretch of highway every day.
