JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. – MoDOT breaks ground Friday on a long-awaited project to improve Interstate 55 in Jefferson County.
The $246 million plan will add a third lane on I-55 from Route Z to U.S. Highway 67. About 70,000 drivers use that 12-mile stretch of highway every day.
14 bridges in that area will be rebuilt. 12 others will be rehabbed. The groundbreaking ceremony is at eleven this morning at the I-55 commuter lot in Herculaneum.
