Ft. Leonard Wood celebrates Army’s 249th birthday with cake cutting

FT. LEONARD WOOD, Mo. – Fort Leonard Wood held a special celebration Friday to mark the Army’s 249th birthday.

Military members cut a cake at the maneuver support center of Excellence Plaza.

The U.S. Army was established on June 14, 1775.

In the present day, the Army is made up of 450,000 active duty service members, 300,000 National Guard soldiers, and 175,000 reservists. It’s the largest of the six U.S. military branches.
