CHICAGO — It’s been three years since two Chicago gals set out to hit every park in the state.

The duo and their “fresh air friendship” have a goal of doing a trailhead at every state park in Illinois. It doesn’t sound too menacing until you realize there’s a whopping 132 of them in the state.

Up until three years ago, Emma Magrady and Stephanie Swieca had never hiked at all. They were broke and looking for something to do and hiking fit the bill.

They spoke it to the universe and heralded all over Facebook and Instagram that they were going to hike every park in the state.

Since then, they’ve documented every high and low and gained followers along the way.

They’ve added local breweries to their trail adventures as a reward for all their hard work.

The Fresh Air Friendship duo says it will probably take them another couple years to check every park off their spreadsheet.
