MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Mo. – Boxes of French fries covered one rural Missouri road after a tractor-trailer rolled over Sunday morning.

The rollover happened around 1:15 a.m. Sunday in Montgomery County along North Service Road, near the 186-mile marker of Interstate 70.

Authorities blame an intoxicated driver for causing the rollover crash. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says an intoxicated driver was traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out traffic lanes, which allegedly forced the tractor-trailer off the roadway.

The semi fell into a ditch and rolled over. As that happened, nearly 43,000 pounds of French fries came out of the trailer and scattered all around the road.

Investigators say no one was injured in the rollover crash. Emergency crews spent nearly eight hours clearing the tractor-trailer off the road, in addition to all the boxes of French fries.

The accused intoxicated driver was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Jail for DWI and other driving offenses.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident.
