O’FALLON, Mo. – The Francis Howell School District announced all schools will be learning remotely Tuesday and Wednesday after network activity affected computer systems, according to a release.
The superintendent described the activity as “unexpected” and said they responded quickly to ensure the security of computer systems and restore full functionality.
“We also separately commenced an investigation to understand the nature and scope of the activity,” a statement from Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Roumpos said. “We are working with third-party computer specialists to investigate the source of this activity and to confirm any impact on our systems. Our investigation into the activity causing the network disruption is ongoing.”

As the technology team works to restore internet to all buildings, all schools within the district will learn remotely. After-school sports and activities are said to continue as scheduled.
Dr. Roumpos said they hope to be able to safely hold classes in person on Thursday, but anticipate that issues will continue throughout this week, bringing the potential for a fully remote week.
A decision will be made by Wednesday at 5 p.m. if students will return in person or continue remote work for the remainder of the week.
