Fire risk alert: breezy conditions today, cooler weekend ahead

ST. LOUIS — Partly cloudy, breezy and warmer today ahead of a cold front with highs near 70. Elevated fire danger conditions are expected this afternoon, especially across parts of central and southeast Missouri.

The cold front comes through dry this evening and temperatures will be much cooler behind it. Overnight lows in the mid- to upper 30s. Gusty northwesterly winds and highs are only near 50 for Sunday.

Highs on Monday were even cooler, in the low to mid-40s. Sub-freezing temperatures are expected both Sunday night into Monday morning as well as Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Temperatures rebounded to the 60s by Tuesday afternoon. The forecast remains dry through Wednesday, with increasing rain chances Thursday and Friday.
