ST. LOUIS – Investigators with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said a fight at a Midtown office space resulted in a bystander being shot.

According to Evita Caldwell, a police spokeswoman, the shooting occurred just after 5 p.m. Tuesday, at an office space for the Missouri Central Bus Company, located in the 700 block of South Spring Avenue. Officers initially responded to a report of a fight.

Police claim two bus company employees were involved in a fight. At some point, three other people arrived and got into the fight to help one of the people involved. A sixth person retrieved a handgun and fired a round, which grazed a 26-year-old man in the lower leg. The victim was not involved in the altercation.

The shooter fled the scene while EMS responded to treat everyone else for injuries suffered during the fight.

The shooting victim was treated at the scene and refused any additional medical help, Caldwell said.

One of the bus company employees, including the three people who jumped into the fight to help them, were arrested.

It’s unclear if any of the other suspects worked for the bus company.
