ST. LOUIS – A Ferguson man appeared in St. Louis Circuit Court on Wednesday and admitted to killing his wife in Downtown St. Louis in 2022.
Lisa Cannaday was shot and killed around 10:45 p.m. on March 5, 2022, in the 400 block of North 4th Street and Washington Avenue. She was 48.
Lisa’s husband, Jerome, shot her several times as she was getting out of Jerome’s car.
According to our news partners at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the couple had been left a party in downtown following an argument over infidelity. Lisa suspected Jerome was having an affair.
Jerome admitted he drove away after shooting his wife, stopped several blocks away, and called 911.
Jerome Cannaday was scheduled to go to trial next week on charges of first-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful gun possession. However, prosecutors agreed to dismiss the possession charge and reduce the murder charge in exchange for Cannaday’s guilty plea.
Cannaday pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and armed criminal action. The judge sentenced Cannaday to 15 years for manslaughter and 3 years for armed criminal action. The sentences will be served consecutively.
