ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis man who was caught with firearms on two separate occasions was sentenced Tuesday to 78 months in federal prison.

Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri said Edward A. Crawford, 43, pleaded guilty in March to being a felon in possession of a firearm following an arrest on Aug. 17, 2023.

In that incident, deputy U.S. Marshals arrested Crawford at a home in the 3400 block of Montana Street, where they found a loaded 9mm handgun and four individually wrapped baggies containing cocaine base, weighing a total of 25.95 grams. At the time, Crawford was on supervised release after pleading guilty in 2018 to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

In May 2022, Crawford was arrested after failing to pull over for a traffic stop and attempting to evade St. Louis police officers. Crawford led police on a high-speed chase onto Interstate 70 before exiting at Adelaide Avenue and ditching the vehicle. Crawford was eventually caught and found in possession of a loaded .40-caliber pistol.

Crawford appeared at the Thomas F. Eagleton Courthouse in downtown St. Louis for sentencing.
