CAHOKIA HEIGHTS, Ill. – A metro east family is seeking justice after a missing teen was found shot to death over the weekend.

19-year-old Daniel Nunn of Washington Park was found dead Saturday at the intersection of Melvin and Lazarcheff Drive. His family reported Nunn missing just days earlier.

More than a dozen detectives with the Major Case Squad are investigating the case. Chris Hodges, Nunn’s uncle, is demanding justice.

“We found him deceased. We’ve been looking for him for a week. It’s real heartbreaking to find him like that but at least we did find him,” he said. “But now we need to finish the story and find out who did it.”

The teen’s family said he was loved by everyone, a hard worker, and was on the right path.

“He’s family-oriented, (we are a) very close knit family,” Hodges said. “He was just now finishing his GED. This is shocking to us,” Hodges said.

Detectives canvassed the neighborhood over the weekend. They believe Nunn was shot at the location where he was found.

Nunn’s family is calling for all the violence to end.

“At some point, we got to grow up and realize (we need) to take accountability and responsibility in whatever we do,” Hodges said. “The person that did this to my nephew, my message to you is: just turn yourself in. Too many law enforcement that’s involved now. You will be found.”

Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to call CrimeStoppers at (866) 371-8477. Identities will be protected and there may be an award.
