ST. LOUIS — Missouri’s fall foliage is nearing its seasonal peak, with most areas around St. Louis now displaying vibrant autumn colors. Northern Missouri, particularly near Mark Twain Lake, has progressed from good color to near-peak conditions in recent weeks.
The metropolitan St. Louis area is now experiencing some decent fall color. While areas near Herman and Hannibal are showcasing peak autumn foliage, making them prime destinations for leaf viewing.
Some regions in the state are a little slower to develop those rich fall tones. A stretch along the Mississippi River, particularly on the Illinois side near Chester, remains in the low color range. This delayed pattern extends southward toward the Ohio River, affecting areas around Rend Lake and Shawnee National Forest.
The Ozark National Scenic Riverways region in southern Missouri has also reached near-peak conditions, offering visitors another option for fall color viewing. See an interactive map of the fall foliage forecast here.
